HOW TO MEDITATE

Relax. Place your feet flat on the floor. Close your eyes.  Take in 5 deep breaths, in Buddha Belly fashion:  Inhale for 5 seconds. Hold for 5 seconds. Exhale for 5 seconds. Feel the support of the chair you are sitting on. Feel the floor with your feet.  Feel your feet on the floor. Feel the support of the floor. Know that you are always supported. Once you are grounded you can cross your legs or move to a position that feels comfortable to you. Continue to breathe.

When thoughts appear:

1.    Drop it in a leaf and watch it float down a river

2.    Place it in a cloud, watch it disperse and drift away

3.    Name it as a thought and bring your mind back to your breath.

Continue to breathe. If your mind continues to chatter loudly, repeat this mantra silently as you continue to breathe – SAT NAM*.  (Sanskrit for “Truth is my identity") Continue to breathe. Feel the support of the universe, knowing you are fully taken care of and provided for.  Know you are the embodiment of truth.
